Objectives: By the end of this workshop, adult educators will be able to...
A. Create a Student Learning Profile and includes (1) the student's long and short-term goals, (2) the student's preferred learning style and learning intelligences, (3) the student's interests and activities (4) a list of possible projects and activities identified as possibly engaging the student's effort, (5) information specific to the student, (5) scheduling preferences, (6) assessment results showing the student's academic and other related skills and areas of growth and any other information relevant to that student's participation in the program.
B. Create and help students implement a Self-Directed Student Learning Contract which includes (1) the student's goals, (2) the activities and projects to be completed, (3) the schedule and timelines to be applied, (4) the rubrics to be applied in the process, (5) and the improvement to be expected on standard tests showing progress toward meeting the student's ABE/GED/ESL/Family Literacy/Employment/Academic/Personal goals.

Activity: Create a simple webquest (use fictitious URL's) or a Scavenger Hunt for one of your students, and add rubrics to assess performance. Use the template provided.
The Self-Directed Student Contract (From Dependence to Independence)
The Role of the instructor
Activity: Create a SDSC for one of your students, which includes the following elements:
(1) the student's goals, (2) the activities and projects to be completed, (3) the schedule and timelines to be applied, (4) the rubrics to be applied in the process, (5) and the improvement to be expected on standard tests showing progress toward meeting the student's ABE/GED/ESL/Family Literacy/Employment/ Academic/Personal goals.
