Microsoft Tutorial on Windows Explorer

Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to use the most basic features of Windows ’98, including file management, create a basic MS Word document, and become familiar with the purpose of other Office 2000 programs.

 

When you have completed each segment in the Exercise Tables below, check the box to its right.

  1. Change the background of you computer.

 

  1. Find a folder called “XXX” on your computer.

 

  1. Change the time and the date on your machine, and then change it back.

 

  1. Add an item to your toolbar if your machine allows it.

  1. From Explorer, create two new folders on your desktop.

 

  1. Drag one folder and drop it in the other.

  1. Create a folder with your name on the desktop.

 

  1. Open two documents in Word and save them with different names in your folder on the desktop.

 

  1. Write two paragraphs in one document. Center one of them.

 

  1. Highlight/Select the first paragraph and change the color, font, and other attributes of that paragraph.

 

  1. Cut one paragraph and paste it in the other document.

 

  1. Change the page size and margins of on of the documents.

 

  1. Add header and footer information.

 

  1. “Print Screen” from the desktop and paste it in one document.

 

  1. Open a new document in Power Point.

 

  1. Paste the same information in that document.

 

  1. Insert a graphic into Power Point.

 

  1. Copy that graphic and paste it into Word.
