Following are sites that offer a variety of activities to help adult learners become more independent in their growth. Nothing substitutes for the one-to-one experience or the warmth of a supportive group, but a lot of learning can happen individually for those who are guided to do it.

GENERAL

Western Pacific LINCS is an online service for adult educators and students, run by director Paul Heavenridge. Paul offered an all-day workshop on December 6, in Cortez, for adult educators who want to learn about the services offered by LINCS and want to develop a project together. http://www.learndirect-advice.co.uk/ - Wow! This is a database with thousands of courses available to adult learners. Type in Math, for example, and you'll find a free course from Kentuky.

http://www.nald.ca/index.htm - Canada's Adult Literacy Network. Click on "Story of the Week" and find archives of stories written at reasonable levels. Finally, another source for stories!

http://adulted.about.com/ - Look at the left-hand menu on this site and have fun. It's great! I haven't found a more comprehensive list of resources for adult educators anywhere. It just goes on and on. Narrow your search and you'll find what you want.

http://www.swadulted.com/students.htm - This is our own site for students. Again, it needs some updating (never ends), but you'll find excellent links to activities and tutorials here.
